Rivers, Karst and Glacial Aftermath

In the movies How To Train your Dragon, there are landscapes that are in every type. There are the river formats, karst and aftermath from glaciers. The rivers were set in various places and many rivers looked to have banks to them. The banks are areas where the rivers flow into and creates and turn while it moves. The aftermath from glaciers pull dry land away from each other and creates coast and rocks to be different height levels.

From this image, you see there are karst. The karst cause the water to be settled in many area because the rocks are in different shapes and levels.

This image is a point bar from rivers. The land cuts off the water to flow in a different direction from where it came from.

The aftermath from the glacials cause the end of the island to have parts of it to be in the water. It creates coasts that has one end to be at a higher elevation of water.

The rocks in the back look to be karst. It looks that the glacers from many years ago came by and pulled some pieces of the land and left the rocks to be how it is.

Earth's Atmoshpere

When the earth decides to turn a different direction, no one is aware of what can happen during or after the disruption. The atmosphere can change gears from windy, raining, foggy, snowy, hail and ect depending on how the earth cycles. The reason for all these weathers to occur is because of the precipitations and cycle the moisture flows through. Sometimes when there are great amounts of pressure in the cycle it can create major storms such as thunder, lightning, hurricanes, hail and great gusts of wind and rain. These storms can create the sizes and shapes of the cycled air that are visible such as hail and clouds.
In the pictures below, the clouds are in many shapes and forms. The clouds each have a name based on the features: cumulus, stratus, cirrus, nimbus and sometimes fog can be labeled as clouds.

The picture above looks like it is stratus clouds because it looks layered and featureless. It looks to be a start of a rain storm coming in because it is thick and the clouds are compacted.

The air around this image above looks to be nimbus and fog because the air is very light. It looks to be near the surface of the earth and the start of rain clouds.

The image above show clouds in their altocumulus shape of cloud. It is very light and verticle. There are not many clouds together and is spaced.

Mass Wasting and Infiltration

In the movie, the area below is called the Training Grounds Firespot Ledge. In this image, the layout of this area is a form of colluvium. There are angular slopes in many directions. One view is from the top of the rocks towards the view to the bridge and below the bridge.

Another form I saw was the evolution models. Evolution models are made from pediments. Those are the flat surfaces before another towering piece of land is formed. In the images it shows below the bridge where there is a flat surface and the rocks where the bridge is sitting is where there is pediments.

The image shows a form of talus casued from the rocks falling. We can see the rocks are pieces that look has been broken and landed on each other to be in the areas it is now to have to different slopes that were formed.

From Rocks To Faults

The location of this area has lots of geographic landscapes caused from faults. As you can see, the rocks on both side of the small village have a tilt to it caused from compression. The rocks are pushed together and overlap. The rocks, which are made up of sedimentary rock strata. Strata rocks are mostly deposited by the ocean or anywhere where water is. The mountains in the center, far end of the image are caused the same way as the rocks. Compression caused the mountains to move up against each other and caused it to have a tilt. In the image we see Graben happening. The mountains are higher in elevation to where the city is. The valley is in a minimal vertical uplift. That is when there are spaces between higher elevated areas and has a pathway of land crossing through the center. The water in an area like the image above is called a sag pond. That is when there is a puddle of water sitting in the middle of nowhere and does not flow anywhere else.

Intro

Hello my fellow classmates, Casey and Kaelin,
The name is Houa Cha. This is the first time I have ever blogged so if it looks weird or needs lots of improvements (which i'm sure will be needed) please help me by giving ideas to add. I hope this semester is a great one and I plan to meet more of you in person instead of through blogging.

I chose the movie How To Train Your Dragon where the location is in the Island of Berk known as "Wild Dragon Cliff". When I first watched it I noticed right away of how the landscapes were set up from the clouds sitting in the sky to the cliffs to the ocean. The cliffs were the most important features of each island because each had different forms to them which made it look as if each were in a different part of the island but each were a flying distance away of a sailing distance. I’ve always had an interest of scenery where the ocean is next to an island where people lived. It always seemed stress free and lots of fresh air. I know this movie is kid-ish but I like everything.
